Bus connections to the university
From central train station ("Hauptbahnhof") to the university ("Universität")
Starting from the central train station to the university you can take the direct connection line 316 (direction "Campus") which starts every half an hour. Alternatively you can take any bus line which goes to the central bus station "ZOH" (e.g., bus line 302, direction "St. Johannis" or 305, direction "Meyernberg/Nord"). From ZOH read the information to go to the university. Some of the bus lines start in opposite side of the main entrance to the central railway station on the other side of the street directly in front of the IHK.
As an alternative to going by bus to the "Zentrale
Omnibushaltestelle ZOH" (central bus station) and changing there the bus line (see starting from ZOH to the university) you can also walk to the bus stops ZOH (B1, bus lines 304 and 306) or "Opernhaus" (B2, line 304). This would be between 5 and 10 minutes of walk.
On the way from the university to the city center, Line 304 stops at "Luitpoldplatz" (B5) which is only about 5 minutes walk from the station.
Via the queries "Bahnhof zur Universität" or "Universität zum Bahnhof" you get information on the time schedules and bus stops on your way from the central railway station to the university and vice versa (but you will usually have to change buses).
From ZOH to the university
The (quicker) bus line 306 (direction: "Campus/Hohlmühle") or the (slower) bus line 304 (direction "Birken/Universität") take you from city center to the university. Also the direct connection via bus line 316 (direction "Campus") stops at the ZOH. In the evening and at week-ends the bus line 326 (direction "Campus") is operating. You can get off at the bus stops "Mensa" or "Uni-Verwaltung", cf. the campus map on our web site information for guests. On weekdays, the Lines 304 and 306 run every 20 minutes each, i.e., alltogether there is a bus to/from the university every 10 minutes.
From the center to the university
From the center to the university you look for bus stops of the lines 304, 306 oder 316 (for the evening or week-ends: 326), see the remarks above on this topic.
The map, above, shows the most important bus stops. "Unteres Tor" (B3, Line 306) is the closest stop to the Hotels Goldener Löwe (H4) and Residenzschloss (H3). The "Zentrale Omnibushaltestelle ZOH" (B1, Lines 304 and 306) is the closest bus stop to the Hotel Arvena (H1) with direct connection to the university (use the new pedestrian bridge over the river "Roter Main" directly opposite to the bus stop B1). It is only a few minutes longer to walk for the hotels Residenzschloss and Goldener Löwe, but it offers approximately each 10 minutes a connection to the university. Another possibility in this area is "Hohenzollernring" (B7, Line 306, in front of the shopping mall "Rotmain-Center" before the shop "Wöhrl"). The bus stop "Oberfrankenhalle/Sportzentrum" (B6, Line 304) is the most convenient one for the Hotel Lohmühle (H2). Riding time to the university is 10-15 minutes. In addition, the plan shows the stop "Albert-Preu-Straße" (B4) which is also close to two hotels but has no direct connection to the university.
From the central railway station to the university you can either walk to the "Zentrale Omnibushaltestelle ZOH" (B1, Lines 304 and 306) or to the stop "Opernhaus" (B2, Line 304), which takes 5-10 minutes. On the way from the university to the city center, Line 304 stops at "Luitpoldplatz" (B5) which is only about 5 minutes walk from the station. Alternatively, you can use the the queries "Station to University" and "University to Station", above, to obtain information about connections without having to walk (but you will have to change buses).
The price for a ticket (single ride, incl. changing the bus) is currently 1,80 €.
Bus connections from the university
The bus stop "Mensa" (B8) is the most convenient one, since it is served by the bus line 304 (direction "ZOH") and the faster bus line 306 (direction "Roter Hügel") and offers approximately each 10 minutes a connection to the central bus stop "Zentrale Omnibushaltestelle ZOH".
Alternatively, you can use the bus stop "Uni-Verwaltung" (B9). For the faster connection to "ZOH" take the bus line 306 (direction "Roter Hügel"), with the bus stop opposite of parking lot "BGI" (P2). The slower bus line 304 (direction "ZOH") with the bus stop on the same side as parking lot "BGI" (P2) stops operating around 7.30 pm.
Please be aware that the bus stop "Uni-Verwaltung" may not be served so often as the bus stop "Mensa" and that you should choose the correct direction to avoid longer stops at the mensa or at the university building "Geowissenschaften".
