How to reach Bayreuth by plane

The closest international airport to Bayreuth is Nürnberg. Other options are the international airports in Frankfurt/Main and Munich with a larger offer of flights.

travel to Bayreuth:

flight to Nürnberg → metro “U2” to central train station (direction “Röthenbach”, 15 min)

→ regional train to Bayreuth (1 hour)

The metro station is directly in front of the arrival hall of the airport. At the ticket vending machine at the metro entrance you can buy a ticket for the entire journey to Bayreuth, which is valid for the metro, the train and also in the buses within Bayreuth.

Note: Due to trackworks with bus replacement (see below for details), the travel time from Nürnberg Airport to Bayreuth will be 30-45 minutes longer than usual on the weekend before MTNS.

A taxi from Nürnberg airport directly to Bayreuth will take about 65-70 minutes and cost approximately 160 EUR.

When continuing your journey by train, an advantage of Frankfurt Airport over Munich Airport is that you can reach Bayreuth with changing trains only once, while from Munich Airport you have to change trains twice. However, the overall travel time by train between Munich Airport and Bayreuth is a little shorter.
